Which format do I need?

Different gadgets take different memory formats? If you know your SD from your Compact Flash, then no problem.

If in doubt, just go to our homepage and tell us the make and model of the device you’re buying memory for. Mr. Knowitall can then tell you exactly which type of memory you need.

How many GBs do I need?

Mr. Knowitall suggests a simple rule of thumb for working out how many Gigabytes (GB) of memory you need.

A 1 GBcard might store on average:

Music:

1½ hour of high fidelity sound.

Photos:

200 high resolution photos.

Text:

1000 short novels.

Video:

6 minutes of a Hollywood movie on DVD.

Like all rules of thumb, real life can turn out differently. Especially with photos. How many photos you get depends a lot on what you’re taking pictures of and what camera settings you’re using. So a slightly more detailed rule of thumb for photographers goes like this:

Photo resolution (Megapixels)

Typical number of pictures on 1GB?

2 mega pixels

800

5 mega pixels

320

7 mega pixels

230

10 mega pixels

160

12 mega pixels

130

Mr. Knowitall apologises for a slightly less-than-straightforward answer to a simple question.

How fast?

Speed is about how fast a card can read and write data. Mr. Knowitall usually tells people that for everyday use an 80X card is fine.

You might want to think about a faster card if you’ve got, say, a digital SLR that supports higher speeds and you want to take action shots. For example, if you were shooting RAW photos of fireworks on a high end SLR you might have to wait 10 seconds or more between shots with a slower card.

What brands does 365 sell?

We represent several high quality manufacturers in Taiwan and China, and the list is growing.

What’s my guarantee?

We offer a 5 year warranty on all memory cards we sell subject to our terms and conditions. Mr. Knowitall says that in his experience, if your card works when you get it, it usually works forever.

If you have any problems with your order, don’t hesitate to go to returns

Tell me about delivery?

Delivery typically takes 5-10 days because we dispatch directly from the Far East. Most companies use middlemen but we’re factory direct. Mr. Knowitall says that this makes us much, much cheaper because memory prices nearly always fall month-on-month. So buying direct from the factory lets you get today’s prices - not last month’s.

Mr. Knowitall usually chooses not to use retail packaging. He says it costs more to send, it’s not very green, and people throw it away.

How secure are my personal details and payments?

We only store the personal data you ask us to store and never sell your information to other people. HSBC Bank manages our credit card transactions. Mr. Knowitall thinks they’re very, very good at protecting your security.
